restoring your mobility, enhancing stability, and building core strength

small group classes, led by our physiotherapists

These small group classes provide specialised guidance through a range of low level exercises to restore movement, stability, flexibility, strength and coordination.

Far beyond a current fitness craze, Pilates was first developed in the 1920’s following the internment of its creator Joseph Pilates during the first World War. During this time, he developed his physical fitness and skills, using springs attached to bed frames to assist with strength and rehabilitation.

While we have come a long way over the last 100 years, many of the principles of these exercises have been incorporated with our more recent evidence-based practice and knowledge to provide small group physiotherapy classes catering to all abilities and bodies.

We address postural correction and control, core stability, muscle recruitment and more to help you overcome any pain, injury or physical condition you are experiencing. Also appropriate for those who just want to maintain their current capacity or as an adjunct to other training or postural maintenance.

Capped at a maximum of 5 people, all classes are led by an experienced physiotherapist to guide you through your own individualised session within a group setting.

Rebates may be available through your Private Health Insurer and we offer a variety of times across the week to cater to all personal situations.

what you can expect

Enjoy the benefits of expert guidance, individual program, and flexible scheduling while you embark on your journey to move better and feel fantastic.

Your journey begins with a 1:1 initial assessment to fully assess your physical health status, introduce you to the space and to ensure we understand your personal goals. We may complete more than one individual session to ensure you have all the necessary knowledge and skills to safely join a group class but your instructor will discuss this with you along the way.

In depth clinical notes are kept each session ensuring we are able to document your progression and you are able to join any Move for Life Group class and the attending physiotherapist has your notes and progressions on hand.

Small group session passes are purchased in packages of 12. The full cost is paid as an upfront amount and at the completion of 12 sessions, a receipt is provided to claim any rebates from your Private Health Insurance.

Discover the Benefits of Pilates Mentone

Pilates is a gentle and effective way to build strength, improve posture, and restore balance in everyday movement. In Mentone, many people choose Pilates as a practical route to better physical health and confidence. Whether you want to recover from a minor injury, prevent future pain, or simply feel more comfortable moving through daily life, Pilates provides a tailored path that meets you where you are.

Begin your Pilates journey in Mentone with Move for Life Physio and experience the benefits of expert guidance in a supportive environment.

Why Pilates Works for You

Pilates focuses on mindful movement and proper technique rather than speed or force. Exercises cultivate core stability while encouraging correct alignment and fluid motion. That focus on quality over quantity makes Pilates a safe option for people with diverse fitness backgrounds and physical concerns. Pilates sessions often emphasise breath, control and gradual progress so that improvements in strength and flexibility are steady and sustainable.

Clinical Pilates Led by Professionals

Clinical Pilates combines the principles of Pilates with a health-focused approach. At Move for Life Physio in Mentone, each program begins with a thorough assessment to ensure exercises are tailored to your individual history, mobility, and goals. Under professional guidance, Clinical Pilates can support rehabilitation from injury or chronic conditions, improve posture, and help prevent future injuries, giving you confidence that every session supports long-term results.

Noticeable Benefits of Pilates

Many people notice positive changes within a few sessions. You may feel less stiffness, steadier balance and easier movement when bending, lifting or walking. Over time, Pilates builds the underlying strength and body awareness that helps everyday tasks feel easier. The mindful nature of the practice can also support mental clarity and reduce stress, so sessions often leave clients feeling more energised and calmer. With consistent practice, Pilates becomes a long-term habit. It supports your musculoskeletal health and improves everyday movement.

A Personalised Approach

Starting with an individual assessment ensures that exercises are chosen for your body and goals. Progress is measured by improvements in movement and function rather than by arbitrary targets. This personalised method makes Pilates in Mentone suitable for people returning from injury, those managing ongoing conditions, new parents looking for safe exercise options, and athletes aiming to improve performance. The emphasis is always on safe progression and on building the skills you need for everyday life.

How to Get Started

Getting started is straightforward. The first visit typically includes a conversation about your health history and a movement assessment. From there, a plan is created with clear steps that match your current ability. You can expect practical guidance, gradual progression, and exercises you can use both in sessions and at home. With regular practice, the new movement patterns become reliable, and the benefits become more obvious in daily activities.
