GLA:D, or Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark, is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.
Research from the GLA:D program in Denmark found symptom progression was reduced by up to 32% and often resulted in delayed or cancelled surgical intervention.
Other outcomes included a reduction in everyday pain, reduced use of medication and a reduction in lost productivity days. GLA:D participants also reported high levels of satisfaction with the program and increased levels of physical activity 12 months after starting the program.
After seeing the repeated positive effects of completing these classes, we have further developed the principles to provide a class that is able to assist with all arthritis presentations.
To join our GLA:D/arthritis classes, you will need to complete a comprehensive 1:1 assessment and education session with one of our physiotherapists before joining one of our 45 minute group classes.
Classes are capped at 5 people per session to allow our physiotherapists to carefully guide you through all your exercises and adjust and progress any exercises specific to your requirements.
