No. Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Myotherapists and Dieticians are considered as primary practitioners so no referral is required for private patients. If you have sustained a road accident under TAC or a workplace injury under TAC you may also book for physiotherapy without a referral but we may require some additional information or paperwork to allow third party payment. If you have been provided with an Enhanced Primary Care Plan by your GP and wish to claim under the Medicare Chronic Disease Management Scheme, you will however require a referral for you to access up to 5 sessions.
We provide convenient 24hour booking via our website, simply head to our home page and follow the (link). Alternatively, you call our helpful receptionist by calling 9584 000 during business hours.
Your initial assessment will be 30 min long and will involve taking a detailed history of your complaint and relevant information, and a thorough assessment of your movements. Following this, your physiotherapist will discuss their findings with you and outline a treatment plan as well as any home exercises or training and lifestyle modifications you may need to make. A plan for any subsequent sessions will be made and you will be given lots of opportunity to ask questions.
As every problem is different this is a hard question to answer specifically. When you see your physiotherapist, they will take the time to assess you thoroughly and discuss your condition. Based on your condition and your goals for recovery, they will recommend what treatment frequency will lead to the best possible outcome for you and will be able to provide you with a treatment outline. Part of this treatment plan will be to work with you to fix the reasons your condition appeared in the first place, rather than just eliminating your immediate issues.
Move For Life is proud to be part of the BUPA and Medibank Preferred provider scheme as well as the More for Muscles Program with HCF. This allows us to keep our costs competitive and means our clients are able to access the highest rate of rebate and the smallest gap fee. Please call our helpful receptionists if you require specific prices and codes for Private Health Insurance rebates.
Our Physiotherapists are available Monday to Thursday 730am to 8pm, Friday 730am to 6pm and Saturdays 8am to 1pm. Other allied health service times vary within these hours.
We ask that where possible you provide us with 12 hours notice for any cancellations. We often have a waitlist for popular times and appreciate the opportunity to offer cancellation spots to other clients. Any cancellations made with less than 12 hours notice may incur a late cancellation fee of $45 or 50% fee whichever greater. Any group class cancellations also require a 12 hour notification to avoid forfeiting the entire class fee.
On your first appointment we ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. If you have any relevant x-rays or scans or letters from other treating professionals, please also bring these along as they may assist with our diagnosis and assessment of your condition. If you have not had any further investigations but your physiotherapist feels this may aid your management, they are well trained in knowing which scan is the most appropriate and are able to refer for a number of investigations or can contact your General Practitioner for further referral.
